REVIEW: I’ve already written a review about Coco Beach for one blog; however, in order for me to post the review here, I’d have to get the approval of the website administrator. So let me just give a brief review. (Rating near the bottom of the post)

IDEAL FOR: A quick RnR with the missus. Or with the entire family.

Coco Beach Island Resort is a sprawling 10-hectare beach resort with facilities made from all-natural materials. Everything is designed to complement each facility and its natural surroundings. Definitely, an idyllic place to recharge frayed nerves, with its cozy ambiance of bamboo and nipa hut in its very Filipino type of hospitality and accommodation.

If you’re thinking of getting away and escaping to a tropical island paradise, then you’ve found the perfect place.

Coco Beach is located at Behiya, Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro where the crystal clear water of the sea is full of life; and the hills are full of coconut palms swaying with the breeze. Here in the old days, Spanish galleons passed by the trading routes between Europe, Mexico and the East.

Today, Coco Beach has bungalows and facilities all made in natural materials. No concrete is to be seen anywhere. We have over four restaurants, 110 rooms, tennis court, hanging bridge, sports facilities, 2 swimming pools, spa – everything blends with nature.

Whether you are vacationing alone or with friends and family, Coco Beach has the right type of room for you. Large groups or families can try the air-conditioned, loft-type Heritage rooms or the large suites while individuals or couples can occupy standard or deluxe rooms.

Everything is designed to complement each facility and its natural surroundings. All made of natural materials like wood and bamboo for that tropical feel and decorated with native artifacts, Coco Beach’s accommodation will keep you feeling at home while away from it all.

Coco Beach offers you a number of high-quality amenities that will make your stay even more fun and memorable. Pamper yourself with our Behiya Spa, learn to dive and experience under the sea adventure with the assistance of our Coco Divers, plunge into our swimming pools, ride our Cable Jeepney, keep fit with our sports amenities, indulge in our shopping arcade, and learn how to make coco soap.

Even if you’re away you can stay connected and updated through our e-café. Aside from outdoor activities, you can relax indoors and watch your favorite movies or enjoy reading books at our Coco Cinema and library room.

If you are with your kids, let them explore our children’s playground.

And because we value health and safety of our guests, we also have a medical clinic.

PLUS POINTS

a) ‘Service Family’ concept. One ‘service family’ is assigned per cabana. Our service family, (yes, it consisted of a father, a mother, kids – the whole shebang) lived closely from our cabana, so we just had to pull a string (no PABX here) that’s connected to their house when we needed anything. The family was very efficient.

b) Very friendly and hospitable resort staff. We were the only Filipino guests in the resort but unlike most of the resorts we’ve been to, we didn’t feel like we were given less priority than the foreigners. They’re a pretty friendly bunch. No snooty resort staff here.

c) Excellent sunset view. Our cabana was high up in the hill, and the view was simply breathtaking.

d) Quiet. The resort generally doesn’t have any crowds, unlike Puerto Galera’s White Beach.

MINUS POINTS

a) Less than efficient Manila Office staff. I’d highly recommend for you to call the resort directly as the Manila office staff takes so long to reply via email. And that turned me off big time that I almost scrapped the reservation altogether.

b) Slightly expensive … for a Puerto Galera resort. Emphasis on the word ‘slightly’. But, it’s worth every penny.
